A beautiful journey, just the way we like them — out of time, magnificent and highly varied landscapes, a complete panorama of the Mauritanian Adrar by 4x4, nights in bivouac. A beautiful encounter with the desert! Bivouac at Tiouilit: a lovely memory at the ocean's edge. We were alone in the world! For us, who live in the Paris suburbs, listening to the wind in the dunes, admiring the sunsets and the starry nights did us a world of good, far from noise and crowds. First of all, an original destination — and it's true that when we tell people around us what we experienced, they are intrigued (for most people Mauritania is an unknown destination, often perceived as dangerous; in short, there is work to be done to get people talking about the country in general, and truthfully!). But for young people, if it's original and supposedly a little strange or even risky, they love it, they talk about it, and it gives them the air of adventurers! Impossible to forget the splendour of the landscapes, deserted in every sense of the word, with so few tourists, the sunshine and the pleasant temperature — even at night — in this season, and even the experience of the sand winds on the last day. The trek... At first sight it's more demanding, harder, more rustic, and indeed on day 2, to be honest, I feared my children would tell themselves that seven more days of this would put them off. Well, yes, they quickly understood that the days would be alike, but above all they realised that at the end of those days of walking, something profound was happening. Zero phone or internet connection, zero channel-hopping, zero alcohol, zero spending — in short, zero escape: everything rests on one's personal capacity to savour, in depth, emotions, conversations or silences, duration and time... a true discovery of one's inner self. A unique family experience. I say this as a parent: the experience as a family unit was unique. All equal, even in the same tent — we played, sang, talked, laughed a lot, and even prayed; I lived moments unknown to me until then! I think our guide noticed it himself! An exceptional guide — deeply interesting, subtle and cultivated, attentive, highly professional and obliging, who perfectly grasped the character of our family group. We adored him. Not forgetting an excellent chef (and a special New Year's Eve dinner in the middle of the desert!) and camel drivers who were wonderfully kind, helpful and efficient... So we have a great many thanks to convey to your whole team, to everyone who contributed to the success of this event, to which I attached great importance.

Over the past few years we have been lucky enough to make a dozen journeys to Mauritania. We love going back to see our friends at Proservices Tour and Les Toiles Maures, who have guided and hosted us with such care — the breathtaking landscapes, the forgetting of time, the nights beneath the celestial vault, and reconnecting with the essential. Before coming to Mauritania, all I knew were the beautiful desert pictures found in specialist magazines. They made me dream — I imagined myself leading a camel caravan between Chinguetti and Timbuktu, accompanied by brave, silent Moors! What I didn't yet know was that my dream could come true, that the dunes of the Ouarane erg were even more beautiful and more "alive" than in the photos, and the Moors braver still and less silent than claimed. If I never crossed the desert to Timbuktu, it is because Proservices Tour showed me so many beautiful places far better suited to my abilities — in conditions of comfort and safety — that I amply fulfilled my dream! I have returned often, faithful to this team, to Cheibany, who has always known how to interpret my dreams so that my stays would be pure happiness… I cannot recommend Cheibany and his Proservices Tour team highly enough if, like me, you have a dream of absolute desert!
