The guetna is the date-harvest season, which here begins at the end of June and lasts until August. We invite you to follow with us the development of our palm trees, savour the scent of the first flowers, discover the changing colours, take part in the etjenkir (pollination), and watch, heart pounding, for the first fruits...
We currently have 21 palm trees, and five different varieties of dates are represented: medinat touire, el medina, savra, el hoummra and tijib. Now let us begin the walk... After the flowering, which starts in January, and the etjenkir (pollination of the palms) in February, the first fruits are already appearing... In March-April, the earliest dates are already the size of a small cherry, while others look like olives... In early May the fruits lengthen and fill out, and one can easily imagine the beautiful, plump, juicy dates that will delight all our visitors during the guetna... And it is in June that the dates of the Adrar turn red...
